Masters in Subsea Engineering (M.SSE)

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Master’s degree programme in Subsea Engineering (M. SSE) are to

  • provide theoretical and practical training in the science and applications of subsea technologies in subsea systems design, installation, and operation.
  • enhance capacity for research development and application of subsea technologies.
  • equip graduates of various Science and Engineering disciplines with adequate technical capability in the technology and processes involved in subsea engineering.
  • provide opportunities for result-oriented research in subsea operations.
  • establish an awareness of the roles and challenges of a practising subsea engineer along with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for technical leadership and managerial responsibility; and ensure that the programme remains relevant and connected to the industry and other issues affecting the subsea production around the world.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Subsea Engineering Programme (PGD.SSE) is open to:

  • Graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or of any other approved University who possess not lower than a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division in any Engineering discipline.
  • Candidates who possess minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division in other relevant fields plus a Postgraduate Diploma in any of the fields in (i) with a minimum of 50% on weighted percentage average.
  • Applicants must have five credits (at not more than two sittings) in WASCE/GCE O’ Level; the five credits must include Mathematics, English Language and any other three relevant subjects from Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
  • Candidates will be expected to satisfy the general regulations governing graduate programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
